Bassano - Italy

To accommodate our English-speaking customers we sometimes organise an English-only paragliding course in Bassano. All explanations will be in English! Of course Dutch-speaking customers are also welcome on this trip, but be aware that the course language will be English.

We have become addicted to flying in Bassano! This fantastic flying area sits right on the southern edge of the Dolomites and is therefore not sensitive to föhn (strong south wind). When the weather is bad everywhere else, it is usually still perfectly flyable in Bassano. Thanks to the geography of the landscape it is relatively easy to climb in thermals. Once you are up, you can hop from ridge to ridge and fly the entire Monte Grappa massif. The view over the Po plain is spectacular, and on a clear day you can see all the way to Venice and the Adriatic Sea.

We have a choice of 5 take-offs: Stella (520 m), Costa Lunga (750 m), Col Serai (970 m), Da Beppi (767 m) and Monte Grappa (1550 m), and two landing fields. The main landing is within walking distance of Tilly's Locanda, where we stay. During the course we try to fly from as many different sites as possible. All take-offs are nicely thermal thanks to the landscape structure, so for the (semi-)advanced pilot longer thermal flights are perfectly possible.

The flying area suits beginners, (semi-)advanced pilots and XC enthusiasts alike, and you can already fly and thermal here early in the year (from February!). In this area we offer regular mountain courses, thermalling courses and cross-country courses.

The authentic Italian atmosphere, beautiful nature, delicious food and wonderful old towns ensure that your non-flying friends or family also have an unforgettable holiday. Bassano itself is a lovely town, and Venice, Padova and Verona, for example, are about an hour's drive away.

Accommodation
We all stay together at the friendly paragliding hotel Tilly's Locanda (see below), within walking distance of the main landing field. PaHo believes it is important that we stay at one location: it makes organising the course easier and it is of course much more fun — after a day of flying, chatting together on the terrace is something you do not want to miss.

On top of that we benefit from a favourable group rate, and if you combine your course and stay you can also get up to €50 discount per person on your week at Tilly's. When booking your course you can book your room at the same time (subject to availability) — so you arrange everything in one go.

Combo deal with Tilly's

Book your course together with a week’s stay at Tilly's Locanda and receive up to €50 discount per person on your accommodation. The room rates below are per person, per course week (7 nights), including a good breakfast! During the booking process you can indicate whether and with whom you would like to share a room.

Accommodation

We all stay together at the friendly and affordable Tilly's Locanda. Tilly's has recently been renovated and offers beautiful luxury rooms with air conditioning at a favourable rate. When booking the course you can also easily book your room.

How to get there

If you leave early, you can drive there in a day. If you don’t feel like a long drive, you can also fly to Venice with KLM, EasyJet or Ryanair and then take the train to Bassano. Tilly's can arrange a pick-up service from the station for a small fee.
